How do I wear Midi skirt ?

ACCORDING TO DESIGNER CHESTER WEINBERG, WHO MADE THE MIDI HIS SIGNATURE, THE MIDI WAS “ALMOST AS A DIRECT REFLECTION OF THE WOMEN’S MOMENT. IT’S FOR THOSE WHO DON’T PARTICULARLY CARE ABOUT WHAT MEN THINK ABOUT THE WAY THEY DRESS.”

The midi skirt was the beginning of a fashion evolution, that was evident in the rising hem lines in 1900. Love it or hate it, the midi is a classic piece that deserve it’s won chapter in the books of fashion evolution.

When the midi first appeared it caused quite an uproar and lead to political and aesthetic revolution in womenswear. The midi skirt is a tricky silhouette to pull off. While it can be very flattering if paired with the right shoes and hem line, it can be a disaster if the length of the skirt doesn’t hit the right place bellow your knee.

This fashion trend favours tall and slim silhouette. The degree of difficulty  for this trend is pretty high so you will get a lot of fashion point to pull this one off.The lady like midi is now more sophisticated, streetwise , in tweeds and tartans.

There is a reason the midi skirt keeps bouncing back in fashion, it has been all over the catwalk for several season. The skirt is office appropriate and  flattering for all ages. They come in several print and material from edgy to floral and from casual boho to office appropriate pencil skirt.

Split midi skirt are perfect office wear. The floral one looks great and can add some colour and life to the boring office wear.

Though it is better to opt for heels to pair with midi, they look dashing with ballet flats too.

The skirt that never goes out of style  makes for great two piece. These are easy to pull off. The midriff barring trend is modern and sleek. The midi paired with cropped top gives a casual vibe.

For the daring and the brave asymmetrical hem and geometrical prints. Another playful twist to the classic midi with asymmetrical hem lines and shear panel.

The midi mostly regarded as formal skirt can be flirty and fun. In dark colour and myriads of prints the midi is for all occasion.

Jewel-toned satins midi paired with tall boots and turtlenecks, perhaps with a sliver of skin showing at the waist would get the temperatures high in winter.

They are appropriate for winters too. I love the voluminous skirts paired with knits and plums. Yes, midi is definitely of those trend that you can wear all through the year in every season.

Why you need to get your clothes tailored

As a fashion student, I have a little more insight in the production of clothes.Tailored clothes fit much better than ready to wear clothes as rule of thumb. Let us discus the pros of getting your clothes tailored.

#Tailored clothes are timeless and classic. They bring out the best in you accentuating  your asset. They make the best impression be it interview or social gathering. Through out the ages seamstress have been working behind the scenes, creating masterpieces.

#Power dressing. Nothing beats a tailored suit.

#Perfect fit. Mass produced clothes are made in standardized sizes that might not fit you properly. This is because our bodies are different and a shirt that might fit you shoulders may be too wide around the waist. On the other hand standardize sizes might fit you perfectly as it does for few people. They can straight way order clothes online and wear them the next day. While most of us had to tailor almost each garment or else compromise with the fit.

#Girlboss need to have their clothes tailored. They need to make a lasting impression, and inspire the mass.

#Comfort. Get comfortable in you own clothes that fits you like a dream. Banish extra fabric in unusual places, and highlight you best asset.

#Your tailor is your personal designer, who makes one of a kind garment that makes its way into you wardrobe.

#Unique piece. Aren’t you tiered of seeing the exact similar piece from Zara or H&M that everyone seem to own. A tailored garment can be simple, but have knock off detailing that is not found on ready – to – wear garments.

#Get creative. Get involved in the process of tailoring . Help the designer to create a piece you will love. Fabrics, lining, colors, details …

#Signature Style. It is easy to put you signature on a tailored piece than a regular ready-to wear garment. I seem to fall in love with a piece and stick to it for a really long time. I have shirt which are 5 years old and need to be trashed because I have worn them out.  I love shirt and the only way to get them right is to get them tailored.

#The cost factor. It might be expensive to get your clothes tailored but it is a worthy investment. Skilled seamstress will charge for their expertise but you will get a timeless and unique piece. My 5 piece french wardrobe can definitely afford tailored pieces.

Black is forever

My love for the color black is unsurpassed by any other colour. It is my go to colour. When in doubt go Black. Back to Black .People around me are forever asking me to wear other colors , anything other than black.

The importance of the colour black when it comes to fashion and my wardrobe is immense.

You can’t go wrong with The Little Black Dress has been a wardrobe staple and rightfully so. They are versatile and flattering on almost everyone. Easy to accessories with statement neck pieces and colorful scarves. The uniform project involved wearing a LBD for 365 day consecutively but creatively while not repeating the same outfit. Black is one of the best colour for the monochrome look followed closely by white and blue.

Black and white  is another classic combination that is always trendy. The combination to these two neutral colour is striking and suitable for every occasion starting from formal to casual.

Apart from that black looks good with a wide range of colors . From pastels to fluorescent and several bright tones can be easily balanced with the colour black. Needless to say   pencil skirt, blazer, jeans, shirt, t-shirt, tank and a pair of semi-formal pants all in the colour black is my wardrobe staple.

Well , when it comes to accessories the belt, the bag and the shoe, black defiantly dominates the field. All these are must for formal wardrobe.

Leather jackets and blazers looks sharp and classy all the time and more so in the colour black. Edgy looks are best when done in black so does studs and chains.

Black colour gives the best slimming effect too.

For some people black is boring but for me black brings out the best in every colour and outfit. What is your go to colour?

Rock the Choker Trend

The trend is highly popular right now, with celebs like Taylor swift and Kendall Jenner sporting the choker to accentuate some of their signature looks.  Popularly considered to be revival of the 90s fashion trend the choker has been conceived long ago.

The origin of the popular choker dates back to thousands of years back to the Sumerian Empire in Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. In those days the choker necklaces were considered protective ornaments. They were generally made of gold or lapis and vested with power.

Choker gained popularity during renaissance as a stylish accessory and were coveted among the royals in the late 19th century .During the late 19th century women in part of Germany and Austria used choker to mask lumps on the neck cause by goitre. While in few parts of the world, simple ribbon choker were symbolic of prostitution. The unprecedented notion changed when the choker graced the necks of ballerinas.

It is a trend that has survived the fall of the ancient empires and the evolutionary era of renaissance and surfaced time and again through the 20th century. The choker have evolved from a protective necklaces to stylish pieces, to being used to mask flaws ,  to being the symbol of prostitution in some parts of the world to being called “dog collars” during the 1920s  and 30s.

During 1920s and 30s choker were made of velvet ribbon and pearls with a central decal.

The 1970s rise of hippies’ culture saw the revival of the choker once again. Pop stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera advocated the choker trend through the 90s. This time the choker evolved in to the infamous plastic tattoo choker and simple ribbon chokers.

Today the choker is available is several forms, from simple ribbons to leather neckties to jewel encrusted collars.Big players likes Givenchy and Chloe have been featuring them on the runway and top jewellery designers are releasing new designs frequently.

Suffice to say the choker is a statement piece which will never go unnoticed. The choker draws attention to the neck and quite boldly so. It is undeniable bold and chic.

Rocks the trends like bloggers do.

1 Layer it with other necklaces – Take layering to the next level.

2 Wear it solo – Give the choker the glory it deserves.

3 Tie it like blogger do .

4 Wear it with a edge.

I am loving this trend …
